Parrot Portraits
Artist: Leila Jeffries
Medium: Photography
Building: 78 St James Street, London
Client: Bentall Green Oak
We were tasked with curating artworks for 78 St James Street; a high end office building which combines beautiful Grade II heritage architecture with modern workspaces. The artworks needed to compliment the historic architectural details and award-winning interior design finishes, whilst still feeling contemporary and original.
For the building’s Morning Room, we were drawn to the work of artist Leila Jeffries for her joyful, tongue-in-cheek photographs of parrots. Leila so brilliantly captures the personality and humour of these birds, capturing them close-up to reveal their beautiful markings and expressions. The building is situated just a stone’s throw from Green Park, so we also wanted to tie in the natural world to this beautiful interior space. The resulting photographs elevate the Morning Room and are a witty nod to the history of the space, where traditional portraits of parliamentary figures once adorned its walls as the Conservative Party’s club headquarters.
We curated multiple artworks at 78 St James Street – see our list of Curated Statements for more.
