Flying in Nuanced Colours
Artist: Pauline Loctin
Medium: Paper sculpture
Client: Uncommon, Holborn
Artistic Statements were thrilled to develop a new art commission with sculptor Pauline Loctin for our clients Uncommon, who create thoughtfully designed co-working spaces across London. Uncommon were looking for artworks that could breathe life into their huge atrium and front window space at their new Holborn site.
Pauline Loctin is a celebrated sculptor who transforms paper into captivating sculptures and creations that explore memory, emotion, and identity. Having followed Pauline for years, we knew this would be the perfect project for her.
The resulting installation, Flying in Nuanced Colours transforms Uncommon’s communal areas, blending origami practices with spatial design to create floating, sculptural artworks that offer space for reflection and creativity.
The artworks were unveiled in September 2024 as part of London Design Festival, with artist Pauline Locitn also running creative paper workshops for the public. Thanks to sustainable paper makers G.F Smith paper, who partnered on the project, and led the research for the colour choices of Hot Pink and Chartreuse as well as supporting with materials.
