Figures of Change
Various female artists
Location: Wembley Park
Public art commission for International Women’s Day 2022
One of our most ambitious projects to date, Figures of Change is an all-female artist trail we developed for Wembley Park to celebrate International Women’s Day 2022. The trail featured an eclectic combination of digital art, lighting installations, murals, graphic design, photography and illustration, across eight major outdoor sites around Wembley Park – from the iconic Bobby Moore Bridge to the Spanish Steps and Market Square.
Figures of Change ran from March – June 2022, and included:
E-MOTION
A series of digital artworks by Italian artist Sofia Cianciulli, which explored self-love, dotted around the park on digital totems and redesigned telephone boxes.
Think Independently Together
A giant colourful floor mural by Lois O’Hara which celebrated the diversity of the local area. The design is inspired by a birds’ eye map of Wembley Park and was developed with input from local young adults.
Landscapes of Women
A painted mural by Laxmi Hussain, nodding to the feminine form. The mural created softness in a traditionally very masculine space. Laxmi’s work revolves around the body, she began painting as a way to reconnect with herself after having kids.
Plus artworks by Charley Peters, Sarah Blackwell and Zoe Slatter
The trail’s theme: ‘How Beautiful Change Can Be’, reflects both the transformation of the space with this vibrant feminist art collection, but also the massive regeneration project that Wembley has been home to over the last few years.
